Library Assistant III (Part-Time): Part time (20 hours per week) position available at the Fairfield County District Library. Candidate must have completed high school or equivalent; be at least 18 years old; and be proficient using computers. The person hired for the position must be able to work a flexible schedule (including some evenings and weekends), maintain a good attendance record and be punctual, follow instructions and be accurate working with details.

Library Assistant to work as part of a team to provide the highest quality of public library service by providing excellent customer service, including but not limited to: keeping customer accounts up-to-date; answering basic directional questions; helping customers locate materials in the library; helping to maintain orderly collections of materials in a variety of formats; and assisting customers with library equipment.

Pay will be $12.10 per hour. After successful completion of 180 probationary period, pay will increase to $13.90 per hour.

Teen Volunteers

Teens interested in giving back to the community, working in a fun environment, earning service hours, and boosting their job and college applications are encouraged to volunteer at the library this summer.

What can Teen volunteers do?

  • Help with programs for children
  • Prepare crafts or materials for programs
  • Decorate for Summer Reading or special events
  • Straighten & dust shelves
  • Clean book covers
  • Shelve Juvenile Paperbacks, DVDs & board books
  • Walk in the 4th of July and Christmas parades

How do I sign up to be a Teen Volunteer?

Teen volunteers must be in grade 8-12 and fill out a teen volunteer application (a parental signature is required). Then attend a volunteer training session before scheduling any volunteer hours.
