Getting a Card

The Fairfield County District Library is your window into the world of knowledge, information and entertainment. Your library card is the key to accessing all the Fairfield County District Library has to offer. It's easy to sign up and it's FREE!

The Benefits...

Signing up for your own Library card allows you to:

  • Borrow books, audiobooks, magazines, CDs, videos, DVDs, ebooks, and computer software from the FCDL.
  • Reserve your favorite books or movies so they'll be waiting for you at the Library!
  • Reserve and/or borrow materials from other libraries through the free inter-library loan service.
  • Access the internet for free.
  • Use Library computers for word processing, spreadsheets and other projects.
  • Renew library items by phone or online.
  • Access research databases on Library computers or at home.

Need a Library Card?

It's easy and free! All you need is identification with a photograph that includes your name and current address (for example, a driver's license). Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and the parent or guardian must show identification with a photograph that includes their name and current address. Visit any library location to fill out an application for your FREE library card today!

All customers must show their library card to borrow materials, renew items and/or pay fines or fees owed. Your card is important - treat it with the same care you use with other credit cards. Report a lost card immediately. Remember . . . you are financially responsible for any materials charged to your card prior to it being reported lost or stolen. You can replace a lost or damaged card for $1.00.

Choose a PIN

All customers will be asked to create a personal identification number (PIN) for their account. Customers will need their PIN to access their library account at a computer, in the library or over the Internet, to place materials on hold, to renew items, and use telecirc.
