All in the Family:

Lancaster Festival ArtWalk Exhibit

Artwork by Barbara Vogel, Robert Wright &

his sons Sean and Neil Wright

Opening: Friday, July 18, 6:00 pm-10:00 pm
During the Lancaster Festival ArtWalk

Exhibit Open through August 16

The Fairfield Country District Library hosts "All in the Family," an art exhibit of work by Barbara Vogel, Robert Wright and his two sons Sean and Neil Wright, during the 2008 Lancaster Festival.

Vogel is a photographer using alternative processes. Instead of using photographic paper, family portraits are carved into wood and coated in oil paints. Out of focus pictures are embedded in encaustics-the old homestead placed in fabric and canvas collages.

Robert Wright designed the 2008 Festival poster. Images are portrayed by using gestural forms and hard color which allows the viewer to determine the image. Wright's two sons followed in his footsteps, choosing art as their vocation. Sean is an architect exhibiting his Rhode Island School of Design thesis project. The centerpiece is a large sumi ink drawing of a spatial mirror in a book format.

Neil Wright is a painter who says, "My exhibit deals with the fantastical absurdity of the human psyche...form reveals itself within the medium."

Vogel's odyssey into her family's history through alternative photography and the Wright's dynasty of art as a way of life, make for the fascinating result of imagination in play.
